The Women In Product Mentorship

My experience being a WIP Mentee

Last month wrapped the Women In Product – San Diego Chapter’s first ever mentorship cohort. Picked from a multitude of applicants, I had the privilege of being one of them.

Women In Product is a 501 nonprofit organization “Equip women to thrive in product management careers at all levels.” From conferences to job postings, WIP does everything in their power to boost women into the tech industry.

I was introduced to the opportunity by a friend who saw it on LinkedIn. I quickly realized that the program was only for San Diego residents. Regardless, I shot them an email and sent in my application. About a month later, I was apart of the program!

The 10-week long mentorship program included mentors from big tech to more nich companies. Mentees ranged from students interested in product management (me) to seasoned PMs looking for a mentor.

My mentor, Melissa Diano, and I met weekly for one hour. Because I am very fresh in my PM career and she has been a Product Manager for years now, she was able to answer any and every question I had.
